COMMUNITY RULES

The house rules for forums, profiles, friends, messages, reviews and social spaces.

Last updated: 6 August 2026
LEGAL CENTREOverviewPrivacyTermsCookiesCommunity rulesAI noticePartner disclosure

1. The Dude Code · version 10 August 2026

  • Be helpful. Be honest. Be decent.
  • Ask anything. There are no stupid questions.
  • Share what worked and what didn’t.
  • Help someone when you know the answer.
  • Don’t brag. Don’t constantly moan.
  • Success is welcome; showing off isn’t.
  • Problems are welcome; constant negativity isn’t.
  • Challenge ideas, not people.
  • Nobody knows everything.
  • Hospitality is hard enough — we’re here to make it better for each other.

2. Never post

  • Names or identifying details in allegations, active disputes, disciplinary matters or confidential incidents.
  • Threats, harassment, hate, discrimination, sexual content, stalking, doxxing or encouragement of harm.
  • Personal data, health data, identity documents, bank details, passwords, rotas containing full names, CCTV or confidential customer/employee records.
  • Fake reviews, copied testimonials, concealed incentives, undisclosed affiliate links, spam or repeated self-promotion.
  • Material you do not own or have permission to use.
  • Instructions for illegal, dangerous or deliberately non-compliant conduct.

3. Friends and private messages

Friend requests and private messages require consent from the recipient. Do not repeatedly contact someone who declines, blocks or does not reply. Private messages are not encrypted end-to-end and may be accessed when reasonably necessary to investigate a report, protect users, maintain security or comply with law. Block and report tools should be used for unwanted contact.

4. Reviews and recommendations

Reviews must reflect a genuine experience. Incentives, employment, ownership, family links, free products and commercial relationships must be disclosed clearly. Suppliers must not review themselves or pressure others to remove fair criticism. We may request evidence, delay publication, label, restrict or remove reviews and derived ratings to prevent fake or misleading review information.

5. Moderation

We may use automated signals and human review. Depending on severity and history, action may include a warning, edit request, reduced visibility, content removal, message restriction, temporary suspension or permanent removal. Urgent safety, fraud, illegality or evidence-preservation needs may justify immediate action. Members can appeal by contacting community@thehospitalitydude.com with the decision and relevant facts.

6. Emergencies and professional issues

The community is not an emergency service or a confidential professional channel. For immediate danger call 999. For serious mental-health risk use emergency or crisis services. For legal, HR, licensing, food-safety or financial decisions, obtain case-specific qualified advice.

Questions, rights requests or complaints

Email privacy@thehospitalitydude.com. We aim to acknowledge messages promptly and respond within the legal time limit that applies.
