Stay hydrated
- Keep cool drinking water easy to reach and protected from contamination.
- Encourage small, frequent drinks during hot work.
- Plan station cover so water access does not depend on abandoning service.
Heat, hydration & focus
Heat is an operating risk, not a toughness test. Build water, ventilation, sensible work rate and recovery into the shift.
← Back to the KitchenTiredness, dizziness, headache, nausea, cramps, intense thirst or heavy sweating can be heat-exhaustion signs. Move the person to a cool place, cool them and give fluids. If they remain unwell after 30 minutes, or show heatstroke signs such as confusion, seizure or loss of consciousness, follow NHS emergency advice and call 999.
